Simple Workouts in the Privacy of Your Home

Posted on 27. Jan, 2014 by in Wellness

We all know that exercising is a key element in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. However, paying for a gym membership can get expensive, and finding the time to drive to a workout facility can even be challenging. Therefore, here are several simple workouts that can be done at home with little or no equipment.

A very easy and inexpensive way to work out at home is to incorporate your workout routine into your TV time. Instead of just sitting and watching your favorite show, why not slip on your gym clothes instead of your pajamas and partake in some easy exercises? By practicing full body squats, push ups, butterfly sit ups and jumping jacks you will get your heart pumping while working your muscles. Push-ups or planks are great for building strong bones and muscles, as you will be holding up your own body weight. You can even jog in place to really get your blood flowing and your legs burning.

If you want more direction in your at home workouts, you should purchase several DVD’s ranging from aerobics to yoga to pilates. You might find yourself a bit more motivated to workout with the support of the teacher from the DVD and you can change up your routines on a daily or weekly basis. Once you have worked out using your DVD’s, you can then start to create your own work out based on what you have learned. By combining the core muscle workouts from pilates with the strength building yoga poses and heart pumping aerobics, you can create a calorie burning and fun workout that fits your time and personality.

Another easy but fun way to get your exercise in at home is to put on some of your favorite tunes and dance the day away! Your heart will benefit from the cardio and your serotonin levels will increase as well, meaning you will be smiling and improving your mood while getting your exercise in. There are many other ways to create simple workouts at home, it just takes a bit of knowledge, creativity and maybe even a friend to keep you motivated and on your toes.
