3 Ways You Never Thought To Relieve Back Pain

Looking for a solution to your chronic back pain often leads you in circles with suggestions ranging from hot and cold packs to pain reliever or a back brace. All of these solutions may help, but may not be the best option for you. Some of these less commonly suggested solutions might be the answer to relieve back pain in a way that best helps you.

Exercise

To some, exercise seems like a strange way to relieve pain felt in the back. If done properly, exercise can actually help strengthen you core, relieving some of the pressure put on your back to hold your torso. Using gradual strength-building exercises, you may be able to alleviate some of the pain you feel.

Get Your Rest

Also a less commonly suggested solution, one reason for achy back muscles and spine may be due to lack of adequate rest. If you find you are often sore accompanied with a sense of fatigue, you may need to try getting to bed earlier at night. Napping in the day may also be a much needed energy boost that can give you strength and relieve that constant pain.

Quit Smoking

For those smokers out there, you may find this slightly surprising, but many studies have shown that quitting smoking may relieve back pain. Smoking can diminish the nutrients your body needs to supply vitamins and minerals to the disks in your back. Likewise, a smoker’s body can take a longer time to heal from strains and injuries, meaning your back could take longer to heal after strain.
